Job Description

Location : Noblesville, IN Job Type: Full-time Multiple openings per shift: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd  

Job Summary: This will be a full-time, direct placement position. Radiologic Technologists, also known as Radiographers, are highly skilled healthcare professionals responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and mammograms. These images play a critical role in helping physicians diagnose and treat various medical conditions. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will work closely with patients to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures while producing high-quality diagnostic images that meet the standards set by radiologists. You will also be responsible for maintaining imaging equipment, following radiation safety protocols, and adhering to all regulatory requirements. This role is vital in providing accurate diagnostic information that guides patient care and treatment plans.

  • Patient Preparation and Safety:

    • Greet and explain the imaging procedure to patients, ensuring they understand the process and are comfortable.

    • Position patients accurately and comfortably on the examination table to obtain optimal imaging results, using appropriate devices to minimize discomfort.

    • Administer contrast materials or other agents under the supervision of a physician when necessary.

    • Ensure patient safety by following proper procedures, including shielding patients from unnecessary radiation exposure and monitoring for allergic reactions to contrast agents.

  • Diagnostic Imaging Procedures:

    • Perform diagnostic imaging examinations, including X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, and fluoroscopy.

    • Adjust and operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality images that meet the diagnostic needs of the radiologist.

    • Monitor the quality of images and retake images as necessary to ensure clear, accurate results.

    • Collaborate with radiologists to determine the most appropriate imaging techniques and to evaluate the quality of images.

  • Equipment Maintenance and Operation:

    • Operate, calibrate, and maintain radiographic and imaging equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.

    • Troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel for timely resolution.

    • Keep imaging rooms clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Accurately document all imaging procedures performed, including patient information, imaging techniques used, and any contrast materials administered.

    • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

    • Ensure timely and secure transmission of images and reports to the radiology department or referring physicians.

  • Radiation Safety:

    • Adhere to established radiation safety guidelines to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.

    • Use protective lead aprons, shields, and other safety measures as required during imaging procedures.

    • Educate patients and staff about radiation safety practices and the importance of minimizing exposure.

  • Patient Care and Support:

    • Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients, particularly those who may be anxious or experiencing discomfort during imaging procedures.

    • Assist patients with mobility and transfers as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.

    • Monitor patients for signs of distress and respond promptly to any issues or emergencies that arise during procedures.

  • Professional Development and Compliance:

    • Stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and imaging techniques by participating in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

    • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures, regarding radiologic practices and patient care.

    • Maintain certification and licensure as required by state and national accrediting bodies.

  • Licensure/Certification: Must hold a current and valid certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and state licensure where applicable. Additional certifications, such as in CT or MRI, are highly desirable.

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in diagnostic imaging, is preferred. New graduates with relevant training are encouraged to apply.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in operating radiographic and imaging equipment, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and mammography machines.

    • Strong knowledge of anatomy, radiographic positioning, and imaging techniques.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift.

    • Ability to lift and assist patients with mobility and transfers.

    • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate imaging equipment and assess image quality.

    • Ability to wear protective lead aprons and other personal protective equipment (PPE) during imaging procedures.
