What is my day to day like?

Creates, recommends and directs print communications between the customer, sales and production. Supports the external marketing efforts and internal operational production projects. Handles operational/administrative needs as well as coordination of print projects. This is a technical production position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with client and vendors to align customer expectations. Evaluate supplied graphics/structures and recommend measures to improve production quality and accuracy of finished product.
  • Analyze, proofread and troubleshoot project files for production to ensure client expectations are exceeded.
  • Knowledge of print imposition layouts.
  • Trap production files for material specific production release for plate construction.
  • Verify print production expectation against quoted master spec for accuracy.
  • Arranges and track project status - from layout creation through customer approvals, proofing and production.
  • Interact with ink lab to evaluate, recommend and order material specific ink drawdown samples for approval.
  • Ensures customer brand management, record, evaluates L*a*b data from client color expectation. Evaluate ink drawdown target against finished production sample for accuracy within established delta.
  • Interact with Product Spec. Managers and Legal staff to ensure accuracy of legal and other material claims on product placement.
  • Establish print production parameters and work with internal Graphic Designer to construct product print templates.
  • Develop complete RSC layouts to outside vendors.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities for maintaining cutting edge department excellence.
  • Organize and maintain printed and electronic file archives.
  • Bid, prepare, order and review printing plates.
  • Coordinate shipping of materials for customer approval.
  • Attend in-house and offsite press approvals as necessary.
  • Collect print production samples and review per customer expectation.
  • Support Business Development presentation needs, generate pitches and program development through graphic presentation concepts, based on abstract generated through Marketing Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management that may become critical to the performance of the department.
  • Provide photographs and photo direction as needed.
  • Possess ability to work in high-paced environment.
  • Able to collaborate with internal and external shareholders during course of individual program lifespan.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Print Production or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in print production, or related field.
  • Must have working knowledge of Macintosh operating system and these software packages; Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Working knowledge of InDesign and Softworks.
  • A working knowledge of print production trapping.
  • A working understanding of Color Management and L*a*b with G7 color management.
  • Ability to produce mockups and prototyping skills a plus.
  • Photography skills a plus.
  • Must be flexible, highly motivated and possesses excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and respond quickly to changing requirements.
