Under general direction, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all construction and maintenance work in the Power Distribution Section; performs related duties as required.

Initiates work orders and repair orders and assigns them to supervisors for repair work on street lighting and transmission lines both overhead and/or underground;
Organizes construction and maintenance crews and assigns work;
Checks construction orders and orders all necessary tools, materials, and equipment; oversees inventory;
Coordinates underground and/or overhead electrical metering;
Organizes and supervises the training of personnel assigned to power distribution group; conducts the safety program;
Works closely with engineering personnel in planning new construction methods for all new work;
Inspects construction work for conformance to plans and specifications;
Develops and maintains budget for power distribution operations; supervises maintenance of records and reports;
Assists in personnel activities such as interviews, evaluations, grievances and hearings;
Coordinates with dispatch center during outages, high voltage lockouts and relays;
Oversees the maintenance, installation, and repair of high voltage transmission lines;
Oversees the operations of the O'Shaughnessy Hydroplant;
Schedules and coordinates OSHA required safety checks on all equipment;
Formulates long term plans for system improvements;
Oversees the purchasing and inventory functions;
Plans, coordinates, and conducts OSHA training for employees.
Completion of the twelfth school grade and eleven (11) years of experience in electrical power distribution work including three (3) years of supervisory or administrative experience in the same field. Substitution(s): College training in mechanical or electrical engineering may be substituted for four (4) years of the required non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
